20y female 5 months Amenorrhoea
(G1).For routine Sonographic check up.
FINDINGS :
21 weeks fetus with a well defined large Isoechoic mass at
Sacrococcygeal region.
Few calcifications at margins of mass.
DISCUSSION :
Fetal Teratoma may arise from mid line structures from brain to coccyx
or from gonads. Because Tarotama arise from Totipotenial cell ,the neoplasm's may contain
elements of many tissues. Common site of origin for Teratoma is sacrum or
coccyx.
Sacrococcygeal Teratoma rare(35000 births) cysts, many contain
solid areas with calcification. They may extend inferiorly between legs. They may infiltrate superiorly
,posterior to bladder. Obtruction of bladder & kidneys may occur if tumor has an
Intrapelvic
component. Hydrops may develop due vascular shunt through the mass.
