CLINICAL FEATURES : 51y male,
presented with inability to climb steps. Pateint is suffering
with diabetis from last 12year. On examination wide gap noted in the
tendo-achilles bilaterally .
TECHNICAL VIEW : High resolution
longitudinal sectional study of tendon achilles at ankle joint level.
SONOGRAPHIC
FINDINGS : Two blind ends seperated by wide gap(1.1cms) noted
in the tendo-achellis, just above the insertion of tendon . Upper blind end
shows calcification.
DIAGNOSIS :
Rupture(old) of tendon achilles
DISCUSSION
: injections of steroids into or around the Achilles tendon may
provoke rupture. there will be clinical inflammation, but
objective pathologic evidence for cellular inflammation is lacking,
and in these conditions the term tendinosis is more appropriate
- teninosis may be related to region of
diminished blood supply just above the tendon insertion; - often the
tendinosis remains subclinical until it presents as a rupture;
- flouroquinolones may also
contribute to tendon ruptur
